Questions, answered

It’s okay to have questions before you begin.

Here are answers to a few of the questions people often ask before booking a counselling appointment.

Can we book a free consultation?

Yes. Lisa offers a complimentary, no-obligation 20-minute phone meet-and-greet to answer questions, learn what brings you to counselling, and explore whether you are the right fit.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book a consultation through Lisa’s Jane profile or contact Lisa directly for general booking questions.

Do I need to be in crisis or have a diagnosis?

No. Many people seek support before things become overwhelming. You do not need a formal mental health diagnosis to benefit from counselling.

Where are sessions available?

Sessions are available in person at Electra Health in downtown Vancouver, by private phone appointment throughout British Columbia, and through the ICBC Recovery Network for eligible clients.

What are the session fees?

Counselling sessions are $165 for 45 minutes, whether in person or by telephone and whether an initial or subsequent appointment. The only other option is a complimentary 20-minute phone meet-and-greet. Most extended health plans provide coverage for Registered Clinical Counsellors. Please check the details of your plan.

Can counselling help with a physical illness or disability?

Yes. Counselling can complement medical and rehabilitation care by supporting the emotional and practical impact of illness, pain, disability, changing abilities, and medical uncertainty.

Are phone sessions private?

Yes. Phone sessions are private and confidential. You simply need a quiet location where you feel comfortable speaking openly.

Is counselling confidential?

Everything you share is confidential in accordance with the legal and professional standards governing Registered Clinical Counsellors in British Columbia, except in the limited circumstances required by law.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please provide 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are charged the full session fee.

Do you provide legal reports or court-related letters?

No. Lisa does not prepare reports, provide opinions for legal proceedings, write court-related letters, participate in court proceedings, or provide testimony. This applies to both ICBC Recovery Program and private practice clients.
