Disability, blindness, visual impairment & vision loss counselling

Support when your abilities, routines, or independence are changing.

Counselling for women adapting to disability, blindness, visual impairment or vision loss, and changes in mobility, energy, cognition, work, relationships, and identity.

Adapting without losing yourself

Changes in capacity can reshape ordinary routines and big life decisions alike. You may be navigating a new diagnosis, blindness, visual impairment or vision loss, reduced energy, mobility or cognitive changes, more medical appointments, reliance on others, workplace uncertainty, or the feeling that people do not understand what has changed.

Real-life concerns we can explore

Independence, vision, and identity

Making room for grief, frustration, adjustment, and the question of who you are when vision, familiar roles, or activities change.

Work, finances, and advocacy

Finding language for workplace conversations, accommodations, boundaries, and decisions about returning to work or changing direction.

Relationships and support

Navigating changing family roles, asking for help, maintaining connection, and caring for your own emotional well-being.

Lisa's relevant perspective

With more than 30 years of medical social work experience, Lisa understands that disability and changing capacity affect the whole of a person's life, not only a diagnosis or symptom. Her counselling approach is person-centred, practical, and grounded in your goals and lived experience.

What counselling involves

You set the pace. Together, you can explore patterns that are adding to distress, develop useful coping and communication skills, strengthen self-compassion, and identify steps that fit your real circumstances. Counselling complements rather than replaces medical, legal, rehabilitation, or financial advice.

Fees and accessibility

Counselling sessions are $165 for 45 minutes, whether in person or by telephone and whether an initial or subsequent appointment. You can meet in person at Electra Health in downtown Vancouver or by private telephone anywhere in British Columbia. If you have questions about access or appointment format, contact reception before booking.
