Practice policy

Documentation and court participation

A clear policy to protect the integrity of the therapeutic relationship and keep counselling focused on recovery.

Lisa’s role

My role as a clinical counsellor is to provide assessment, treatment, and therapeutic support to clients. To maintain the integrity of the therapeutic relationship and remain focused on my clients’ recovery, I do not provide documentation, reports, opinions, or letters for legal proceedings, nor do I participate in court proceedings or provide testimony.

Who this applies to

This policy applies to all clients receiving services through the ICBC Recovery Program as well as those seen in my private practice. Clients requiring documentation or opinions for legal purposes are encouraged to seek assistance from an appropriately qualified independent assessor or other professional who provides medico-legal services.

Thank you for your understanding and respect for this professional practice policy.
